This march is entitled "Marching Onward" and it contains the song "Onward Christian Soldiers" and a Songster tune for "I'll Go In The Strength of the Lord." This is a great march and was an immediate hit. Our band had the same reaction to this as they had to the Festival March "Salvation's Song." We played them both in concerts within a week or two after playing them for the first time. They both just seemed to flow naturally with no problem areas at all. Our first public performance of this piece was in the Houston Opera House. The play "Guys and Dolls" was on and we were asked to provide music during the intermission. After the intermission the audience was asked how they liked the intermission entertainment. There was a nice round of applause. Then they were told we were the "real Salvation Army band" and we got a much more enthusiastic round of applause. The following month there was a small story in the Houston Performing Arts magazine about our appearance. This is a recording made by the Mississauga Temple Band of Canada |
Tell your Salvation Army friends about this website. Chapter Ten about our Seattle Temple Corps Experience is going to be very interesting, but you have to read every chapter in order to understand Chapter 10. You won't be disappointed. |
